Johor Port Berhad Contributes RM1 Million To UTM Endowment Fund

5 December 2016, Johor Port Berhad (JPB), a Member of MMC Group contributed RM1 million to the UTM Endowment Fund in Johor. The handover ceremony was attended by YBhg Dato’ Sri Ce Khalib bin Mohamad Noh, Chairman of JPB, En. Shahrull Allam Shah bin Abdul Halim, Chief Executive officer of JPB, Prof Datuk Ir Dr Wahid bin Omar, Vice Chancellor of UTM, Prof Dr Azlan Bin Ab Rahman, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of UTM, Prof Dr Azlan bin Ab Rahman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) of UTM and management team of UTM and JPB.
 
During the ceremony, YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib presented scholarship certificates to high-achieving students. As a token of appreciation towards JPB, UTM named their marine research centre as Johor Port Marine Technology Centre.
 
In March 2013, Johor Port signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UTM and pledged to contribute RM5 million to the UTM Endowment Fund. The Fund so far received RM3 million and a total of 600 UTM’s undergraduate students has benefited from the scholarships. In addition, the contribution was also used for Research and Development, publication of scientific materials and high impact programmes.

Since its established in 2009, UTM Endowment Fund has managed to raise a total of RM81 million. The UTM Endowment Fund was establish with the objective of nurturing the right talents by giving them opportunities to realise their academic potential.
