KUALA LUMPUR (June 16): Petroliam Nasional Bhd's (Petronas) subsidiary PRPC Utilities and Facilities Sdn Bhd has granted Johor Port Bhd's (JPB) unit operatorship of the Pengerang Integrated Complex's (PIC) solid product jetty (SPJ).

In a statement today, Petronas said PRPC Utilities had signed an agreement with SPT Services Sdn Bhd to provide operating equipment and systems for SPJ as well as to manage the operations and maintenance of the jetty.

Petronas senior vice president Dr Colin Wong Hee Huing, who is also chairman of PRPC Utilities, urged all parties involved in the project to always be vigilant towards upholding health, safety, security and environment standards under any circumstances.

"I am confident that SPT Services, with guidance from JPB, will manage the operations of our SPJ in an efficient, competitive and most importantly, safe manner with continuous high HSSE (health, safety, security and environment) standards in the jetty's daily operations," said Wong in a statement.

The SPJ is a tailor-made facility to manage the volume produced by PIC as well as to ensure the timely export of containerised polymer and sulphur to the market.

Apart from SPJ, the PIC also includes the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID), the Pengerang Co-generation Plant (PCP), an LNG re-gasification terminal, a raw water supply project (PAMER), the Pengerang deepwater terminal, as well as centralised and shared utilities and facilities.
