MMC Corp Bhd has extended its support to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor with a contribution of essential hospital equipment as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the local community.

Among the items donated were one ultrasound machine, four vital sign monitors, two pulse oximeters, five infusion pumps, three suction aspirators and 20 baby bassinets and trolleys.

The contribution is aimed at replacing some of the hospital equipment damaged during an incident in October where a fire broke out in the premises.

“This CSR initiative is to ensure that the hospital’s operations will return to normal and the welfare of society is taken care of,” Johor Port Bhd CEO Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim said.

Shahrull represented MMC in handling over the items to Sultanah Aminah Hospital Deputy Director Dr Khadijah Abu Bakar.

The fire that claimed the lives of six people was believed to have started at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital and affected two floors of the main building.

Following the tragedy, MMC group operating companies in Johor made a donation of 200 boxes of personal hygiene items to the victims.

MMC is a utilities and infrastructure group with diversified businesses under three divisions, namely ports and logistics, energy and utilities, and engineering and construction.
