MMC Group of Companies in the Southern Region Extended Relief Aid to Flood Victims in Johor

In response to the alarming flood situation that has affected the southern region, MMC Group operating companies in Johor worked together to extend post-flood aid from 10 March to 14 March 2023.

Through MMC Prihatin, approximately 25 volunteers from Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd (Senai Airport City), as well as Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), were deployed to Kluang, Muar, Pontian and Batu Pahat as part of the distribution effort.

Distributed in four batches, the first group of recipients, comprised of 100 affected families from Kampung Bentong Dalam, Kluang received the aid of RM 100.00 cash vouchers per family. The distribution was made at Balai Raya Kampung Bentong Dalam through the Kluang Parliamentary member, YB Wong Shu Qi, with representatives of operating companies.

The second batch of the aid relief was delivered to Bukit Pasir Service Centre and was received by Yang Berhormat Tuan Ir Ts Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh, Chairman of Johor Public Works, Transport, and Infrastructure Committee. The aid consisted of diapers, sanitary pads, hygienic kit (toothpaste, toothbrush, shower gel) and milk formula distributed to 100 affected families.

The third and final distribution was delivered to Pontian District Office and Yong Peng Service Centre for 110 affected families. The aid was received by Tuan Haji Zainal Eran, District Officer of Pontian and Yang Berhormat Tuan Ling Tian Soon, Chairman of Johor Health and Unity Committee. As the flood started to subdue, the affected families returned home to see many of their belongings were destroyed by the flood. Hence, each family received a set of personal hygiene kits, mattresses, pillows, blankets and portable stoves.

The flood relief programme was held as part of the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives under community development. It is hoped that the relief would help the victims to get through the hard times.
