21 February 2022

On 21 and 22 February 2022, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, aided 228 underprivileged students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Kopok, Sekolah Kebangsaan Cahaya Baharu and Sekolah Kebangsaan Perigi Acheh as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Jom ke Sekolah Programme.

Aimed at easing the financial burden of families from low household income, all 228 underprivileged students received financial aid and brand-new school supplies consisting of school bags, stationeries, face masks and hand sanitisers. In view of the latest COVID-19 situation, a low-key handover ceremony was held at the respective schools involving a few teachers and students to safeguard their health and safety.

Johor Port’s CSR initiative focuses on giving back to the communities especially in the areas where it operates to facilitate the growth of the local socio-economy. Through Jom ke Sekolah programme which was introduced in 2018, Johor Port has always been supportive of underprivileged students and has helped numerous schools in the Pasir Gudang area.
