MMC Group Allocates Over RM 670,000 For Local Communities

MMC Corp Bhd yesterday donated four Muslim hearses to four mosques around Johor as part of its zakat (alms) distribution to assist Muslim funeral matters and the general overall community.

The Toyota Hiace vehicles, worth more than RM670,000, were handed over by Johor state executive councillor for public works, rural and regional development Datuk Hasni Mohammad to selected mosques’ representatives at a handover ceremony and breaking of fast ceremony at Masjid Jamek Temenggong Daeng Abd Rahman , Benut.

The four mosque selected are Masjid Jamek Temenggong Daeng Abd Rahman, Benut ;Masjid Kg Permatang Palas, Benut; Masjid Tiram Duku,gelang Patah; and Masjid Jamek Senai ,Senai.

Also present at the event were MMC Group MD Datuk Seri Che Khalid Mohamad Noh and about 600 local residents.

Hasni said MMC continues to support Johor’s sustainable economic development and improve the quality of life of local communities.

“It is encouraging to see a dynamic, successful corporation that believes in enriching its surrounding communities like MMC Group .We are grateful for their constant support over the years , and we hope to continues this partnership in providing means for better lifestyle among the people of Johor,” he said in a statement issued yesterday.

Meanwhile, Che Khalid said MMC Group remains committed to improving the welfare of local communities through its corporate social responsibility.

He said MMC Group through its subsidiaries – Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd ,Johor Port Bhd (JPB), Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd and Senai Airport City – have been actively engaging local communities via various programmes.

“We have undertaken several initiatives as part of our effort to continuously enrich the communities’ lifestyle and wellbeing,” he said.

Among the company’s key initiatives last year were the RM1 million contribution to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) for endowment fund , essential hospital equipment contribution to Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Baru , Back to School programme for 380 students from poor families around Johor , and the seagrass rehabilitation programme in Tanjung Adang , Gelang Patah.

In 2013, JPB signed a memorandum of understanding with UTM to contribute RM5 million to the fund. To date, UTM has received RM3 million from JPB.
