Johor Port Contributes RM3 Million To The UTM Endowment Fund

On 4 September 2019, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group presented a contribution of RM3 million to the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Endowment Fund during the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) held at Dewan Nilam, UTM, Kuala Lumpur.

Signing on behalf of Johor Port were YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Chairman of Johor Port/Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad and Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port while UTM were represented by YBhg Professor Datuk Ir Dr Wahid Omar, Vice Chancellor of UTM and Professor Dr Shamsul Sahibuddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor of UTM Kuala Lumpur. Also present to witness the signing of the MoA was YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali, Chairman of UTM Endowment Trustee Committee.

In March 2013, Johor Port signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UTM for sponsorship of RM5 million to the UTM Endowment Fund, with which RM1 million was donated annually. The main purpose of UTM Endowment Fund establishment is to assist the poor and needy students who are academically good but incapable of financing the fees and the cost of living. To date, 680 students received scholarships and more than 500 students received monetary aid to support their daily necessities from the endowment fund.
