Johor Port Berhad Aid Relief For Flood Victims in Mersing, Johor

A few of the districts in Johor were badly hit by floods recently with five areas particularly affected by torrential rain, and with Mersing being the hardest hit. To help lighten the burden of those affected by the devastating floods, Johor Port Berhad, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas, Senai Airport Terminal Services and Senai Airport City held a joint post-flood relief effort at the flood evacuation centre, Sekolah Kebangsaan Air Papan, Mersing, Johor on the 9 January 2018.

Basic necessities were handed over to 48 flood-affected families from three villages in Mersing which include Kampung Air Papan, Kampung Tenglu and Kampung Benaung. Among the items donated were personal hygiene care, mattresses, pillows and food supplies such as oil, rice and canned food.  Also present at the ceremony were representatives from Mersing District Education Department, Malaysia Civil Defence Department, Johor Social Welfare Department, the Penghulu Mukim Tenglu, head of villages and chief of the flood evacuation centre. 

On the 25 January 2019, Johor Port Berhad, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas,Senai Airport Terminal Services and Senai Airport City teamed-up to hold the second post-flood relief effort for the flood victims in Mersing, Johor. To help lighten the burden of those affected by the devastating floods, basic necessities were handed over to 64 flood-affected families from Kampung Pengkalan Batu Mersing, Johor at the community hall, Balai Raya Kampung Pengkalan Batu, Mersing.

Among the items donated were personal hygiene care, gas stove and food supplies such as oil, rice and canned food.  The programme was part of Johor Port Berhad’s initiatives to fulfil its role as a responsible corporate organisation in community development. The programme was also held to instil the spirit of volunteerism and togetherness among the employees.
